The Katy Independent School District begins approximately 20 miles west of downtown Houston and extends beyond the city of Katy, encompassing 181 square miles north and south of Interstate-10. The District is located in Harris, Fort Bend and Waller counties. KISD has a population of over 25,000 students.
The District currently includes 15 elementary schools, 6 middle schools and 3 high schools. It offers outstanding instructional programs, and
has facilities and equipment that are among the best in the state. KISD is one of the few school districts in the United States that has both an Outdoor Learning Center and an Outdoor Education Program. KISD
also offers Community Education, Summer Programs, Gifted and Talented Programs, Vocational Education, Vocational Agriculture, Special Education, Athletics and PhysicalEducation, and Alternative Education.
Katy Residents take education seriously, and the community and school district work hand in hand to provide the best educational opportunities
for all KISD residents. As a result, several KISD schools have won the National Recognition Award for Elementary Education, Exemplary Performance Awards, and 11 schools were selected as Texas Successful Schools
by the Texas Education Agency.
