Katy has a stable local government consisting of a mayor, city administrator, and a city council. Five city council members are elected from two wards. Each ward elects two members and one member at large.
The mayor is also elected at large. Each elected official serves a two year term, with half of the members elected each year. Katy employs approximately 50 city employees, and as its administration offices located at 910 Avenue C. Their telephone number is 281-391-9181.
Across the street at 905 Avenue C, is the Social Services Department. This department serves the young and old by providing such services as inoculations for children, and daily programs for its senior citizens. A newsletter and calendar of special events is regularly published. Inquiries can be directed to 391-9221. Katy is zoned, and has areas available for all types of businesses, schools, shopping, churches, and family living.
Katy's city government is working to be responsive to the needs of both business and residents, and is progressive in its planning for the future.
